If there is an R beside it your EMAIL ADDRESS was NOT VALID and your Search Report has been RETURNED with the message "USER UNKNOWN" (and you have been temporarily removed from "the Experiment" dataBASE so those who have yet to receive their Search Reports will not be matched to someone who cannot be contacted). You may re-join if you re-apply using your original Application Number on a new Entry Form. (Note that anonymous hotmail.com email addresses are not acceptable if you wish to participate in Stage 1 of "the Experiment".)
If there is a ? beside your Application Number your EMAIL ADDRESS
is UNKNOWN (not submitted correctly, or lost when a disk file was
damaged) and your Search Report cannot be sent (and other Members cannot
contact you) until you submit a NEW Entry Form with your current
address.
The entire list of addresses has not been checked yet, so please check here
AGAIN later if your Application Number is 344-490 -- do not assume your
correct address is on file until you see an S beside your Application
Number below.
If your Application Number is 500 to 800 or higher, then you will be on the Waiting List, and I am sorry to say that you will have to wait a while longer for your Application to be processed. You will be entered in STAGE 2 of The Experiment, and a separate CHECK-LIST page will be added soon so you can verify that your Application was received and accepted. I have many forms to process, and this takes a lot of time, so please be patient with me.
If your Application Number is NOT LISTED on the ACCEPTED list, please check the RE-APPLY list further down the page.
If you konw you have CHANGED your ADDRESS since applying, submit a NEW Entry Form as soon as possible, using your ORIGINAL Application Number, or your Search Report may not reach you.

Please read all the information below, before using these hot-links.
I began emailing the Search Reports on FEB 20. Since the matching process for each Member takes over 10 minutes and there are now about 200 to do (2000 minutes = 33.3 hours), the delivery was done over a period of two or three weeks. The completion date was MAR 10, but Search Reports are still being emailed to Members who are re-submitting Entry Forms, and to new applicants. The Contact Request Form was added on APR 15 and Members #001 to #230 may now use it to request the email addresses. Please do not use this Form unless you have received your Search Report.
NOTE: your "MEMBER NUMBER" (#001X to #230X) shown on the "STAR MATES LIST" which was emailed to you after FEB 20 does NOT correspond to your original Application Number. It does NOT indicate any particular order, nor any preferred status, nor how early you applied. Some #s are not assigned to anyone. Please use your new MEMBER number (plus the M, F, G or L for your gender, eg. #200M) when you request a CONTACT with any other MEMBER, and quote it to them when you write so they can see if you were on THEIR Top 5 List. Use your original Application Number only if you have not received your MEMBER # yet and need to re-submit a corrected Entry Form or an address change.
The "official" CLOSING DATE for free Entries was JAN 31 1997. All Entry Forms received and ACCEPTED by that date WERE entered in "The Experiment" and were matched against ALL other active Members, not just the first 100 as originally promised. This meant that the 100 Search Reports scheduled for the week of JAN 27 would not be done until later, and were sent after FEB 20 so they would contain matches to approximately 200 Members. This has doubled my work and delayed your Reports, but it should provide better matches for everyone!
The Entry Form was left operational so those who applied before JAN 31 1997 could make corrections or address changes up to the last minute before the Search Reports were produced. For those of you who have entered for the first time AFTER JAN 31 there can be NO GUARANTEE that you will be entered in The Experiment; however, your Entry Form WILL BE SAVED and might be entered in case openings come up in the first stage, OR might be entered in a possible second stage of The Experiment. I have chosen to include ALL those who entered complete and correct Entry Forms up until MAR 16 on the Waiting List, and include them in the EXP dataBASE so they may be matched to many other Members who applied earlier. This has brought the number of active Members in the dataBASE up to 224 as of MAR 23. Those early entrants who did not re-submit corrected Entry Forms by FEB 20 will NOT appear on other Members' Search Reports, but I WILL deliver their own Search Report if and when they RE-submit a FULLY-completed Entry Form under their ORIGINAL entry number (which they should have recorded when they applied); but this offer will extend only until ALL the Search Reports have been sent out.
If your Application Form for STAGE 1 has been received and ACCEPTED, it
will be listed in the following
ENTRIES ACCEPTED list so
you will KNOW if you got "in". All you have to do now is wait until all
the Entries have been received and the processing of the Search Reports is
completed. This may take a while, so please be patient.
The majority of Entry Forms have been from women. To date, 224 Entries
have been ACCEPTED as ACTIVE MEMBERS, and 12 others have still not
submitted their RE-APPLICATION.
Late entries will be held on a Waiting List and processed after mid-MAY, so please wait until then to look for a new STAGE 2 check list page announced on the |HOME| page.
PLEASE NOTE: Entries with an email address at "hotmail.com" will NOT be accepted. Mail has been returned undelivered from this email service on several occasions. (And if you use an ANONYMOUS mail forwarding service, people may suspect you have something to hide. As stated in the TERMS and CONDITIONS, only PRIVATE email addresses will be accepted -- the one serviced by your own Internet Service Provider or employer.)
Please note that if your Entry Form was NOT FULLY COMPLETED, you will NOT have a chance to participate in the STAR MATES Experiment unless you RE-APPLIED on a NEW Entry Form BEFORE the final 100 people were accepted for the Waiting List. To secure your spot, please ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS when re-applying! Entries officially closed on JAN 31 1997, and if your completed Entry Form was not RE-SUBMITTED before MAR 16, you will NOT be guaranteed free inclusion in the dataBASE or on on anyone's Search Reports.
If you submitted an incorrect E-MAIL ADDRESS, I will not even be able to contact you. Look in the PLEASE RE-APPLY list below.
You WILL be placed on the WAITING LIST *IF* you re-submit an acceptable Entry Form before The Experiment ends, but your position on the list will be determined by the time you re-submit an acceptable Entry Form, not by the date of your incomplete Entry Form. So please be careful to answer ALL questions on the Entry Form, so you won't miss your chance to participate!
Please do not email enquiries, unless your number is not on EITHER list within 48 hours. If you RE-APPLY, please use your ORIGINAL Application and fill in EVERY answer box. If you forgot your number, enter 000.
Application Numbers 001 to 523 have been checked as of MAR 23 01:30 EST. If your number is above 507 you were not guaranteed entry in The Experiment in STAGE 1, but your application will be saved and entered in STAGE 2 after all the original Members have received their Search Reports and Contact Requests. Please be patient, for there is a great deal of work involved in this project and I have not yet been able to write some programs to automate the processing. Watch for a notice at the top of the |HOME| page when the |CHECK-LIST| page for STAGE 2 is available. You will be able to check the status of your Application then, but in the meantime I am sorry to say that those of you on the Waiting List will be "waiting" for a while longer until I can catch up with all the processing work for STAGE 1.
If your Application Number is NOT on this list, you may have to RE-APPLY quickly to be part of The Experiment or be on the Waiting List. Please check the RE-APPLY list further down the page.
IMPORTANT! If your Application Number was in the range from 41 to 91, you will need to RE-APPLY NOW in order to receive the Search Report which is being prepared for you. A disk file containing your email address was damaged and lost, so I cannot email you until you RE-SUBMIT a new Entry Form and include: (1) Your ORIGINAL Application Number (41-91), (2) Your present E-MAIL ADDRESS, (3) Your First and Last Names and Nick-name, and (4) Your full BIRTH DATA (so I can be sure it is YOU who is re-applying). If you have forgotten your Application Number but think you're in this range, use the number 000 so I will know you are not a new applicant. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you, but it was an accident and this is the only way to get your Search Report to you. All other data you submitted was copied to paper -- only the email address was lost -- so you have been INCLUDED in the database and may appear on other Member's Top 5 lists.
