You are the visitor to the |CONTACT| page for Members of STAGE 1 of The Experiment.

Have you read the FAQ:QUESTIONS-ANSWERS page for more information about your Search Report? The CONTACT REQUEST FORM was made available on this page for STAGE 1 Members on APR 15, and since MAY 10 email addresses are being sent to all the Members who submitted contact requests. If you haven't made your request yet, please use the Form on this page after you have read the latest notices here.

The delivery of Search Reports began on FEB 22. Since the matching process for each Member takes over 10 minutes and there were about 200 to do, the Search Reports were emailed over a period of a few weeks, on a "first-in first-out" basis. Search Reports for those who entered STAGE 1 late were also emailed, but not until mid-April when the email addresses of all Members had been verified and those with NON-working addresses were removed from the active membership list.

Please read the |CHECK-LIST| page to see whose Reports have already been sent. Some have missing addresses, or have been returned with "User Unknown" notices from their mail servers. If your Application Number is listed with a ? or an R, please re-apply quickly to avoid further delays! I cannot process the requests for email addresses of Members until I have the correct addresses on file, so the Contact Request Form was not made available until most of the re-submitted email addresses had been received. I have now started taking Contact Requests since APR 15, whether or not all the current email addresses were received, so you may now use the Contact Request Form below to enter the names and Member # of those on your Top 5 List you wish to contact by email.

Please understand that you MIGHT receive an address which now is not working, or MIGHT be told an address for a certain person is unavailable. Some participants may not send in their current addresses if they change them, or may later decide to de-activate their free membership in The Experiment. That is their individual choice, whose consequence we all just have to live with. I suggest you request all 5 addresses, just in case. Once the Contact Request Forms have been processed and the addresses sent out, I will be de-activating any Members who have missing or non-working email addresses, and post a list of MEMBER #s which cannot be contacted.

After that, you may be able to order an updated Search Report which matches you only to ACTIVE Members, and according to a set of matching criteria (the LIMITS seen on your Search Report) which you can set YOURSELF, such as gender, marital status, and availability, plus age and height ranges (there may be a fee for this extra service, since I don't think I am up to to doing another 200+ Search Reports for free, and since Members are more likely to keep their address updated and correspond with other Members if they have paid to participate).

CONTACT REQUESTS: Please DO NOT EMAIL your requests for email addresses of Members you wish to contact. Please read this |CONTACT| page, then use the CONTACT REQUEST FORM on this page so you can submit up to 5 Member #s and Names you wish to contact. There will be a delay of several days in receiving your list of addresses if I get swamped with too many requests at once. Those of you who have entered after the "official" closing date and are on the STAGE 2 Waiting List will have to wait a bit longer for your Search Reports because I want to get as many new Entries into the ASTRO database as possible before I run any more Search Reports, so that you can all have the best chance of being matched to the most compatible Members. Once you receive your own Search Report you may use the Contact Request Form as the earlier STAGE 1 entrants are doing now.

QUESTIONS ? For those who have questions about their Search Report, I have created a FAQ page and will be adding more to it; so please hold off on emailing me with questions until you have had a chance to check the FAQs first. CHANGE of ADDRESS: If you have already been ACCEPTED as a MEMBER, but have since CHANGED your email ADDRESS, please don't email me. Instead, submit a NEW |ENTRY FORM| and enter your ORIGINAL Entry number, not the new one displayed on the screen. Include your First and Last Name and Nick-Name, full birth data, and your NEW EMAIL ADDRESS.
Then check the |CHECK-LIST| page in a day or two to confirm it was received and is acknowledged there. If you forgot your Application Number, enter 000 so I will know you are not a new applicant. If you do not enter all your birth data and TIME, I will not know it is really you. I would not want to be directing other Members to contact you at a phony address, so I cannot accept a change unless you provide this IDENTIFYING information.

The ENTRY FORM was left operational so those who applied before JAN 31 1997 could make corrections or address changes up to the last minute before the Search Reports were run, starting FEB 20. For those of you who have entered for the first time AFTER FEB 20 there can be NO GUARANTEE that you will be entered in The Experiment; however, your Entry Form WILL be SAVED and might be entered in case openings come up in STAGE 1, or might be entered in STAGE 2 of The Experiment. Check the |CHECK-LIST| page for your current status!

Due to the great deal of work involved in processing 100 applications at once, I am afraid I will have to streamline things by insisting that ALL the following TERMS OF ACCEPTANCE be agreed to if you wish to participate for FREE in "The STAR MATES Experiment". If you feel you cannot accept all of them, please accept my apologies and select the hyperlink to return to the HOME page.

  1. NEW TERM: Applications from "hotmail.com" addresses or any other free ANONYMOUS mail forwarder will NOT be accepted.

  2. All applicants must be 18 YEARS OF AGE or older.

  3. All applications must be made using the official ENTRY FORM. Applications by email will NOT be accepted (and may not be acknowledged promptly).

  4. All applications must contain A PERSONAL E-MAIL ADDRESS unique to ONE individual, and which is expected to remain effective until at least JAN 31 1997. (Addresses may be tested to ensure the application is valid.)
    (If you are on-line for a "free trial" period from a service like America On-Line, please do not enter unless you plan to continue.)

  5. All ENTRY FORMS must provide answers to EVERY question, or they will be rejected and the applicant's position number will be forfeited.
    (I am sorry, but I just don't have time to follow-up on incomplete Entry Forms.)

  6. Applications found to contain false information will be rejected, and not subject to appeal. I reserve the right to decline or cancel the free membership of anyone deemed to be acting in a manner which is disturbing to other members, disrupting the proceedings of The Experiment, or endangering the right to privacy, peace, or safety of any Member.

  7. Applications will not be accepted after the FINAL closing date to be announced on the STAR SIGNS Astrology Zine home page. Once entries are finally closed, the ENTRY FORM will be replaced by a notice.

CONTACT REQUEST FORM

This CONTACT REQUEST FORM was not available until ALL the Search Reports had been delivered to nearly 200 Members, so that everyone could have their own Top 5 List before they start getting email from other Members who may already have their Search Reports. Even though I have not yet received all the address corrections and missing email addresses as I hoped to, I am going ahead with the contact stage (since APR 14) to avoid any further delays. Thank you for your patience up to this point!

Please note that you will he entitled to only ONE free CONTACT REQUEST which may include up to 5 of your Top 5 matches, so be sure to submit all the names at once. Email addresses will only be provided for Members who appear on your Top 5 List, and your email address will only be released to Members who have YOU on their Top 5 List.

You MAY receive email from Members who do not appear on YOUR Top 5 List, but your name and Member # must have appeared on THEIR Top 5 List or they would not have received your email address from me. I suggest that everyone should cut-and-paste the other Member's entire line into your letter when you first contact anyone on your Top 5 List, so you both KNOW how well you were matched, and that the person writing actually was matched to the one being contacted. You and they might also be interested in seeing a copy of your descriptive "label" from page 2 (there are 8 randomly-sequenced variations, so the one each of you got may not have been seen by the other). Your own description is printed only in the Search Reports of Members who have you on their own Top List, so you have an extra incentive to reply to them and ask to see what the computer "said" about you!

Some Members YOU may contact will not have YOU on their Top 5 List, but you both can be reasonably certain that your compatibillity rating was high enough to be in the top 10 or so, even if it did not appear in the Top 5 on the other person's list. Whoever has the actual Factor percentages for your match on their List can send a copy of that line to the other. I do not keep your scores with everyone, so you will need to save your own Search Report with care and not ask me to verify anything for you. (I do keep a record on diskettes of all the Reports sent out, but if you ask me to send a second copy to you I may ask for a fee for this extra service. Doing the original 200 was a lot of work!)

Always mention (or ask for) the person's MEMBER # so you and they will know that each of you is a legitimate Member of "The STAR MATES Experiment". No one should know YOUR Member # unless you appeared on their List, or you told them, or they told someone. But I will not release your email address to anyone who submits a CONTACT REQUEST FORM unless:
(1) they give their MEMBER # and name and these match my records, and
(2) their email address matches the latest one they supplied when applying or submitting a valid address change on a new Entry Form.

If you are in doubt as to whether you really appeared on someone's Top 5 List, ASK them to quote your Month and Day of birth, or your Rising Sign, or even your compatibility "scores" on all 7 Factors. If you appeared on their Top 5 List, they should know this. Do not show YOUR MEMBER # or "scores" to anyone else, for it is your best way to ensure that only other Members will be able to claim that they have been matched to you. Please note that it is possible for any of their "scores" to differ from yours by 1 percentage point (eg. 81 not 80), because of "rounding errors" in the math when matching you to them, compared to matching them to you -- so don't worry if ther numbers happen to differ by only one point higher or lower.

IMPORTANT NOTE! Please be sure to answer EVERY question, or your Form cannot be processed, and you will need to submit a new one all over again.



Your Contact Request will be processed as soon as possible and the email addresses sent to you after MAY 10 at the address you enter here. Please submit a new Contact Request if you have not received a reply within seven days.

"The Experiment" has shown that people who apply for a free service often forget they applied, or leave the Net when their free-trial connection expires, or do not make an effort to submit address changes. Do you think there should be a nominal Registration Fee (eg. $5 to $20) charged, to help avoid Members getting matched to people who can no longer be reached by email? Please enter 0 if you disagree, or if you agree then enter the fee (in U.S. dollars) you feel would be appropriate. This fee would not include their own Search Report, but would include the processing of the Entry Form and inclusion in the MAIN database where other Members may be matched to them when those Members order Search Reports.

Or I could charge a small fee (eg. $5) to send each email address requested on a Form like this, to ensure that your address only goes out to Members who are serious about contacting you. A = Send my address on the Search Report to ANY Member who is matched to me on any Search they order, and do not charge a fee for this.
