PANZER GENERAL (DOS) PBEM RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT SETUP
ALLIED GENERAL PBEM PG (DOS) SCENARIO ADD-ON
To play the Allied General PBEM PG (DOS) Scenario Add-on, one MUST FIRST implement ALL PERMANENT file substitutions as documented in the companion web page outlining the Panzer General PBEM PG (DOS) Scenario Add-on
DOWNLOAD_____FLAGS.SHP, MAPNAMES.STR,
PANZEQUP.EQP, PANZER.EXE & SCENSTAT.BIN
To this effect, the downloaded FLAGS.SHP, MAPNAMES.STR, PANZEQUP.EQP & SCENSTAT.BIN files MUST PERMANENTLY REPLACE the files bearing identical names that are located in the ..DAT\ sub-directory. Similarly, the downloaded PANZER.EXE file MUST PERMANENTLY REPLACE the file bearing an identical name that is located in the ..EXE\ sub-directory. PLEASE NOTE that, in conformance with Armed Conflict (DOS) parlance, the programme refers to the Axis as "Wing" and to the Allies as "Star" !!
To play the Allied General PBEM PG (DOS) Scenario Add-on, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that one adopt NUMBSCEN.BAT, PANZER.BAT and PG.BAT which MUST be placed at the root of the Panzer General (DOS) directory structure (e.g., PG\ or PANZER\ and so on). The downloaded PG.BAT file MUST PERMANENTLY replace the file bearing an identical name located at the root of the Panzer General (DOS) directory structure.
FROM THIS POINT ON, PANZER.BAT SHOULD BE USED TO PLAY ALL ASPECTS OF PG (DOS) INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD PG.BAT THAT CANNOT HANDLE THE PRESENTLY DISCUSSED ADD-ON ON ITS OWN !!
DOWNLOAD_____NUMBSCEN.BAT, PANZER.BAT &
PG.BAT
The Centre has also developed variants to CAMPMAP.SHP and FINALE.SHP normally residing in the ..DAT\ sub-directory. The objective here is to enable hobbyists to clearly and visually differentiate between the Allied General PG Scenario Add-on and other PG (DOS) variants. These two files MUST be placed in the brand new ..\DAT\AG-ADDON\ sub-directory.
DOWNLOAD_____CAMPMAP.SHP & FINALE.SHP
The presently discussed add-on is implemented via the PANZEQUP.EQP that is native to Allied General (Windows '95) V. 1.1 with a KEY proviso, namely, that ALL Norwegian unit specs make their battlefield debut in March, 1940..... In this way, "symmetry" is maintained without new unit purchase choices being affected in the least ! This file MUST be placed in the brand new ..\DAT\AG-ADDON\ sub-directory.
THE AXIS PLAYER SHOULD NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ON THE BATTLEFIELD DURING TURN # 1 ! SIMILARLY, THE ALLIED PLAYER SHOULD NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ON THE BATTLEFIELD DURING THE SCENARIO'S MANDATED LAST TURN ! THESE TWO RULES ENSURE FIDELITY TO THE FACT THAT, IN ALLIED GENERAL PROPER, THE ALLIED PLAYER GETS TO MOVE FIRST.
THE PLAYERS SHOULD CONSULT AGVICTOR.XLS (SEE BELOW) TO DETERMINE ULTIMATE VICTORY OR DEFEAT. THE PROGRAMME'S PRONOUNCEMENTS AT THE MANDATED END OF A SCENARIO SHOULD BE IGNORED.
ALL scenario packages MUST be placed in the brand new ..\DAT\AG-ADDON\ sub-directory.
NORTH AFRICAN SCENARIADOWNLOAD_____NORTH AFRICAN SCENARIA
The contents of this file are primarily (but not exclusively) oriented towards someone playing against the programme's AI module. Beware though, if a player were to keep on consulting this information source on scenario-specific questions while being active as a PBEM hobbyist, he would be inviting DISASTER !
SOME OF THE INFORMATION IN THIS FILE MAY ALSO BE MISLEADING OR PLAINLY WRONG !
This Excel V. 5.0c spreadsheet file contains a listing of very important play parameters for each one of the 12 North African scenaria natively found in Allied General (Windows '95) V. 1.1. Prior to starting a new scenario game, PG (DOS) enthusiasts are STRONGLY ADVISED to consult this file in conjunction with AGVICTOR.XLS.
