Recent Site Upgrades

Maintainance of this Web site has been sadly lacking for the past two years, as a result of the pressure of other work. Pending an opportunity for the more thorough upgrading that is needed, this one item has been added to the site.

24-29 August 1999: Major Upgrade

After too long a delay, this upgrade involved minor changes to almost every page on the site. Two new sections were added, the first for a selection of Gadus Associates' reports, published in full here. Two substantial items were added to that section, in addition to the MPA paper which has long been a feature of this site. The second new section contains images of fisheries. Initially, it has 30 pictures of the Nova Scotian fisheries over the past 20 years. The "Who we are -- What we do" section was supplemented with a downloadable PDF file containing an introduction to Gadus Associates, Dr. Kenchington's C.V. and a detailed list of past projects. At the same time the list of Web links was expanded to over 2,550 different links.

New Portfolio of Underwater Photographs mounted 1 January 1999

A light-hearted addition to the site, with the excuse that it demonstrates Gadus Associates' capability to record underwater research photographically.

A minor upgrade to the List of Web Links was mounted on 27 December 1998

This change brought the list to over 2,300 links, while updating several links that had changed in the previous six months.

Minor updates to Dr. Kenchington's C.V. and related files were mounted on 5 December 1998

An upgrade to Gadus Associates' list of Web links should follow shortly. It has been delayed by a long committment to an overseas project, recently completed.

A minor upgrade to the List of Web Links was mounted on 24 June 1998

This change brought the list to over 2,250 links. Some other files were updated at the same time.

A major upgrade to the List of Web Links was mounted on 10 April 1998

This upgrade brought the number of different links to sites relevant to the commercial marine fisheries over 2000 -- a doubling in under a year! There was also a break-out of the page of links to suppliers, boat-builders and services into three separate pages, taking the list to a total of 16 pages.
An improved version of the logo on our home page was mounted at the same time. It still needs more work but is a step up from the old logo that has served since 1996.

A medium upgrade to all pages, Mounted 2 & 3 April 1998

A new version of the list of links, excepting only the page of "Commercial Services for the Fishing Industry" (which needs thorough revision), was mounted -- bringing the total to over 1900 different links. This upgrade also included a change to the background colour of all pages which should allow users with very slow Internet connections to see the coloured text without waiting for the background image to appear. Many thanks to Itai, at the World Forum of Fish Workers & Fish Harvesters in India, for suggesting this change!

A series of small upgrades to our List of Web Links and other pages

Through January and February 1998, we began slowly checking the links in our list and mounted new versions of the pages as that proceeded. Along with the addition of other new links here and there, that brought the list to upwards of 1,600 different links. New links added in 1998 are now being marked as such, except where that would confuse more than it would help, in the hope that this will assist frequent users who are looking for additions to our list.
At the same time, we have continued with the usual minor upgrades to other pages to keep them up to date.

Major Upgrade to the Appearance of the Site, Mounted by 6 December 1997

This upgrade introduced improved graphics and colour schemes designed to be at once attractive, easy on the reader's eyes and fast-loading. At the same time, we upgraded our list of marine fisheries Web links, bringing the total to over 1,500 different links while making a few minor changes in their arrangement. We also added a new page of "codfish links", containing a random assortment of links to information on the three species of "true" cods: Gadus morhua, Gadus macrocephalus and Gadus ogac. This is the first page of a planned section of the site that will be devoted to Gadus Associates' namesake, the Atlantic cod.
