Process

John Aarts creates screenprint (also called serigraph or silk-screen print) portraits on canvas. He paints the colours on canvas and then screenprints the final portrait image, resulting in an innovative contemporary painting. Excellent likeness is achieved because the screenprint is taken from photographs taken by the artist or provided by the client.

John Aarts

John Aarts graduated from a two-year Studio Art Program at Capilano College, North Vancouver, B.C. Canada, with courses in printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture and art history. He has also studied art at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, the University of British Columbia, Langara College, Dundarave Printshop, Malaspina Printmakers Society and the Atlin Art Centre.
